Playing For Change
A 2004 project
with the self-described goal to "inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music," the developers of Playing For Change traveled the world, creating some
amazing collaborative music
. Using popular artists, local musicians, and street performers, the songs were created by layering each individual version of the same song on top of each other, perfectly blending them together to create a beautiful and unique rendition.
Playing for Change released a
documentary
, a CD, and a DVD of some
highlight performances
. To me, the artists that stand out, the ones with the most passion are the street musicians. Originally, I assumed that Playing For Change was a documentary on street performers. I have always been drawn to their music for some reason. Whether it be somebody playing the
drums outside Fenway Park
, the
Violinist in the Metro
, or a
guitarist in the T Station
...the music just feels more real, more important.
